Plex to VLC: Enhance Your Video Playback Experience
Plex to VLC is a free Chrome extension developed by doubleyoustew that adds a convenient "VLC" button to the Plex Web Player interface. This extension is specifically designed for macOS users and requires a companion application to function properly.
With Plex to VLC, you can easily open Plex files in your preferred external video player. Whether you prefer the system default player or have VLC, IINA, or any other video player installed, this extension allows you to set it as your favorite video player within the Plex interface.
Additionally, Plex to VLC offers the option to mark videos as played once you open them. Although this change requires a page refresh to take effect, it is saved immediately, providing a seamless playback experience.
Please note that this extension is only compatible with macOS. For Windows and Linux users, alternative Chrome extensions are available to achieve similar functionality. To use Plex to VLC, you will also need to download the companion app, which can be prompted by the extension or found on the GitHub page of the extension.
